After 1975, the building underwent a functional reclassification, transitioning into worker housing for the nearby shipyard – an adaptation that reflected broader socio-political restructuring in postwar Vietnam. By the early 2000s, however, the structure entered a period of decline, its deterioration symbolizing the tensions between aging urban fabric and the accelerating forces of modernization that reshaped the surrounding cityscape.
